We'd like to invite you to participate in a unique learning opportunity. In August and September 2007, Patti Halstead will be teaching two exclusive 5-day hands-on workshops, which will focus on taking traditional faux finishes to the next level in a commercial space.

You'll learn how to incorporate traditional product with an innovative twist, in this hands-on workshop. During each five-day project, you will be creating advanced level designs using Modellos, Metallic plasters, smashed glass, and more. The project will be a fabulous opportunity to gain experience in the resort design field, while learning unique and innovative faux finishes.

Students will create sample boards to enhance their portfolios. Hands-on experience includes professionally addressing the challenges that come with a real commercial installation. And of course — an added bonus to this learning experience is working and staying in a tropical paradise!

Design Projects

Tradewinds Resort Design Project
August 6-10, 2007

Patti Halstead will be teaching an exclusive five-day hands on workshop at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida, which focuses on taking traditional faux finishes to the next level in a commercial space.

Incorporating traditional product with an innovative twist, during this unique hands-on workshop our team will be transforming the Palm Court, a fine dining restaurant located in the beautiful Tradewinds Resort. You'll be creating advanced level designs using Modellos, Metallic plasters, mother of pearl, silver leaf and more. The project will be a fabulous opportunity to gain experience in the resort design field, while learning unique and innovative faux finishes.

Students will create sample boards to ehhance their portfolios. Hands-on experience addressing the challenges that come with a real commercial installation is another added benefit. And a great bonus to this learning experience — you'll be working and staying in a tropical paradise! Students will receive VIP treatment from the resort staff during their stay in this fantastic beach-front resort, with all of your meals included. To update this fine dining space with a casual elegance feel, every surface and space with be transformed. The centerpiece of this restaurant will be two large wall applied modello designs incorporating intricate mother of peal and silver leaf inlay. Metallic plaster will be applied over a variety of surfaces. Wood work will be distressed faux mahogany. And a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork, combining mother of pearl, seashell, sea glass, and silver leaf will be created. Patti will be teaching concept and design development through installation.

The Resort Design Project will be held for five days, from August 6, 2007, through August 10, 2007. Students will stay at the beautiful Tradewinds Resort while participating in the hands-on training workshop. The Tradewinds Resort includes two distinct beach resorts — just steps away from each other — on the white sandy beach of Florida's Gulf Coast. This beach-front setting with a hint of the island tropics offers a colorful mix of relaxation, fun, and recreation, along with friendly four-star service and accommodations that encourage you to "just let go". Relax by the pool or in a beach cabana and take in the beautiful west coast sunsets.

Check-in day is Sunday, August 5, 2007. Classes will be held from Monday through Friday at the resort, and students will check out on Satuday, August 11, 2007. You will be given opportunities to explore the area, access resort amenities, and enjoy yourself.

how much will this cost?

The cost of the workshop is $2,300 per student, and includes personalized training, accommodations at the Tradewinds Resort, and three meals each day. Rooms are double occupancy. A deposit of 10% must be received by Friday, May 4th. If you are interested in attending the Sirata Beach Resort Design Project from August 12-18, 2007, the cost is $4,000 for the two-class combination. That's a $600 savings, and two full weeks of learning and fun.

Sirata Beach Resort Design Project
September 17-21, 2007

Patti Halstead will be teaching an exclusive 5-day hands-on workshop at the Sirata Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida, which will emphasize taking traditional faux finishes to the next level in a commercial space.

Incorporating traditional products with an innovative twist, during this unique  hands-on workshop our team will be transforming the Mangrove Grille, a casual dining restaurant located in the beautiful Sirata Beach Resort. You'll be creating advanced-level designs using Modellos, Metallic plasters, smashed glass and more.

The project will be a fabulous opportunity to gain experience in the resort design field, while learning unique and innovative faux finishes. Students will create sample boards to enhance their portfolios. Hands-on experience handling the challenges that come with a real commercial installation is another added benefit. A bonus to this learning experience is working and staying in a tropical paradise! To transform the space, a large-leaf Modello design with embedded glass and metallic paints and plasters, Metallic plaster finishes, metallic paint finishes, custom antique patina designs on mirrors using Modellos, Verre Eglomise, distressing and antiquing wood work, and decorative concrete finishes will be applied. We will also be creating decorative artistic elements to be used throughout the restaurant, such as: drapery hardware; art pieces; and antique mirror screens. Patti will be teaching concept and design development through installation, keeping a caribbean feel while at the same time updating and enhancing the feel of the space.

The Resort Design Project will be held for five days, from August 13, 2007, through August 17, 2007. Students will stay at the beautiful Sirata Beach Resort while participating in the hands-on training workshop. With twelve tropical acres along the tranquil Gulf of Mexico, Sirata Beach Resort provides a relaxing resort experience with a sun-drenched Mediterranean flair. You'll enjoy the gentle sounds of the surf, and miles of white sandy beaches with brilliant west coast sunsets.Recreation at the hotel includes three sparkling pools, whirlpools, fitness center and beach volleyball. Relax in a beach-front hammock or cabana, or enjoy the dining and entertainment the resort has to offer.
